The Brad’s Story

Brad’s Home Furnishings was started in 1957 by Bradley “Brad” Bromwell in the small town of Vevay, Indiana on the southern edge of the state along the Ohio River. Originally, Brad sold and repaired televisions and appliances. Brad’s added furniture and carpet about a year later.

In 1968, Brad’s moved to Columbus after a fire destroyed their Madison, Indiana location. Brad’s first location in Columbus was at Third and California Streets. Soon moving to a larger location at Fourth and Franklin Streets. In 1979, Brad’s moved to their current location at 729 Washington Street.

In 1987, Brad’s added their Gallery Location just 2 blocks down the street. This gave Brad’s the ability to show merchandise in an upscale gallery setting. Brad’s wife, Gretta, ran the Gallery location until her retirement. Gretta passed away in January of 2013 after a long illness.  In 2014, The Bartholomew County Historic Society wanted to purchase the Gallery location. So later in 2014, remodeling began at the Main Store at 729 Washington Street to accommodate the addition of merchandise from the Gallery location.  Including the addition of a new Design Center, to custom order furniture to suit your exact taste.
Brad’s is still family owned and operated. Brad comes into the store almost every day and would love to see you stop in.
